New to volleyball
Who it's for: kids, teens and adults in the Edmonton area who are new to volleyball, and families choosing a first program.
Indoor or beach
- Indoor. Two teams of six players on a hard court in a gym.
- Beach. Two teams of two players on sand. Volleyball Alberta lists outdoor and indoor sand courts in Edmonton. See Where to play.
Age groups
Youth volleyball in Alberta uses age classes from 12U to 18U, set by birth date for each season. The 2026-27 chart is in the Edmonton club volleyball guide.
A first program: GO Sports
Volleyball Alberta's GO Sports programs in Edmonton are for kids ages 6 and up. Winter registration opens Nov 18, 2026. A Volleyball Alberta membership is needed before registering. School or club
- School teams are run by each school. Ask the school about tryouts and seasons.
- Club volleyball is run by clubs on Volleyball Alberta's approved list, with their own tryouts and fees. Winter club tryouts open Nov 29, 2026. See the Edmonton club volleyball guide.
