Trades guide
Your first week on site
Show up early, ask good questions, and write everything down.
- Before day one: confirm the start time, site address, parking, PPE list and who to report to.
- Day one: go to the site orientation, learn the muster point, and ask where the first aid kit and fire extinguishers are.
- All week: keep a pocket notebook for names, tasks and hours, and log your hours every day (use our hours log).
- Ask "Can you show me once more?" It's a strong question, not a weak one.
- Phone away unless you're told otherwise.
- Paperwork: keep a copy of your registration, and know who signs your hours.
- Safety: you have the right to refuse unsafe work. Learn your province's process.
